Apple Picking

This year we decided to try apple picking at a location closer to home.  We found a place less than 15 mins away. Cherry Hawk Farms and we will for sure go back next year.  It wasn't really crowded so we took our time picking and most were higher up in the trees so we had to use the apple picker.

Sophie enjoyed eating them and being our little taste tester so we could decide what our favorite apple was and how many we would pick.

We ended up with a peck and Sophie has decided she loves apples....

PAINTING PUMPKINS

This year since Sophie is really into painting and gluing thing, we decided to paint pumpkins.

Here's the artist at work...

A little purple...

Ok a lot of purple

Now some pink....

Mommy and Daddy even painted some pumpkins..

We need more pink Mommy...

All done...looks like I got a bit messy

The finished product...as you can tell none of us are up and coming artists..but we know how to have a good time.

DELAWARE COUNTY FAIR

Since our County Fair doesn't happen until September we never know what the weather will be like.  Luckily we had a reasonably warm day without any rain.

We saw lots of animals...but this guy seemed to be a favorite...

Along with the horses which are readily able to be pet...

After seeing the animals we had a snack of hawaiian ice...it was big enough Sophie and I shared while Daddy enjoyed a snack of his own.

Lastly she rode three rides..and when you are a single rider you sometimes make new friends when you get paired up.

Here's Sophie on the giraffe...

The the jet ski's...she did not like this ride once it got started.

Lastly the mini Ferris wheel.  I think this one was the favorite...

Because she was smiling from ear to ear..

Cow!

Sophie is absolutely in love with this cow...and I bet you can't guess what she named him..that's right "cow."

Cow sleeps with Sophie every night and at nap time.  He also joins us for walks in the wagon, runs in the jogging stroller, and sometimes sits at the table with us for snack.

He's even been to church with us, to the grocery store, to Grandma and Papaws, to Grammy and Poppy's.

This cow loves to be read to, pushed around in her play grocery cart, served tea or chocolate milk at her play table and enjoys watching the chipmunks, curious george, and strawberry shortcake movies snuggled under a blanket with Sophie and of course who gets a goodnight sleep without cow.

Turning 30

This past weekend I turned 30.  I honestly do not feel or look 30, and everyone keeps telling me your thirty's are better than your 20's.  Sounds great to me :) Last weekend we started celebrating with my parents and enjoyed a yummy homemade pot pie and an ice cream cake along with some money to spend on myself.

Then the weekend over my birthday my hubby planned a nice getaway weekend just the two of us out to Amish Country while Grammy and Poppy watched Sophie two nights for us.

Friday started off with a nice run at home before we left, while I was out Bob and Sophie made cards for me, I found a nice black streak of crayon on our blanket last night :)

Then we left and headed North to Grammy and Poppy's to drop off Sophie.  We started our weekend at Sara's a crafty store which I love to shop.  I picked up some fall decorations for outside here.

Then we took a loop around the mall in New Philly and had a nice quiet dinner at Uncle Primos and headed out to our hotel.  We had a nice big king bed, a jacuzzi tub, and our own patio for relaxing.

Saturday morning we slept in until 7.  Yes that is sleeping in for us remember we have an almost 3 year old :)Then we had breakfast and I think all Bob ate was the homemade cinnamon rolls.

We spent the day walking through the shops in Amish Country and relaxing with some cheese and wine we had gotten at a wine tasting.
That evening we got all dressed up and went out to dinner and show.

What a wonderful weekend getaway.  I so enjoyed my one on one time with my hubby celebrating my birthday.  We slept in again and had breakfast before going to see our little Sophie.  She had a blast and got a new outfit and some my little ponies.

Then we headed out for lunch at a winery with Grammy and Poppy to celebrate my birthday

Sophie enjoyed weighing herself on a barrel scale and rocking on the rocking chairs that were out front.

If this is how 30 is...I can deal !!

First Day of Sunday School

So even though she's not quite three yet we decided to start Sophie off at Sunday School.  She went right into her classroom with a few of her little friends and sat down.  I stayed for only a few minutes and then when she wasn't looking I backed out of the room.   When Bob went to look in about 10 minutes into it she was fine...she was coloring a picture of who was special.

Later to find out she was drawing a picture of herself.  She had goldfish crackers and juice for snack, had made a craft, and they had read a story and played a game where everyone got to be a King.

Honestly I was a little sad to see her off to Sunday School, cause that means she's growing up way too quick, but happy that she was a brave girl and went willingly and happily without a tear.

Planes, Trains, and Boats

For labor day weekend we headed out of town to Grammy and Poppy's house.  The boys rode their bikes while Sophie ran after them because she didn't think she was fast enough on the tricycle.

Some of the major events for the weekend were taking a boat ride at Atwood where all the kids got to take a turn driving the boat.

We also went to the Dennison Yard where the kids got to see a train and make their very own pizza for dinner.

Sophie just did Pepperoni and Cheese
Austin did the same but added green peppers and sausage

Aaron did the same as Sophie

After it was cooked everyone gave it a thumbs up!

Here we are watching the train

After we came home and were in our jammies the kids wanted to see all the pictures.

They also did some playing in the bunk beds with Poppy's supervision

The next day Austin and Aaron took their first flight after the Gooding family reunion

Before the flight Sophie and Aaron played on these cool little airplanes

Then Sophie and I went and sat on the plane...since we weren't going to take a ride

While the boys took their first flight with Uncle Eric and Poppy we played with the little airplanes again

They made it back safely with huge smiles.  I think they all had a good time and Sophie had to get in on the picture.

Here are the boys getting the pilots autograph
