Someone's been Sleeping in Her Big Girl Bed...

Tuesday Sophie's big girl bed was delivered and when we got home from the sitter's and work there is was in her room... She was just so excited to climb up in it and lay down in it.

She's says "oh mommy I love my big girl bed"  "Me sleep here".  Absolutely...so glad she loves her big girl bed.  No problem with the transitition at all.

Funny story though today at nap time while I was sitting at the computer eating my lunch I look up from the desk and there she stands...so she got out of her bed and came downstairs so quietly that I didn't even hear her.  So I followed her back upstairs and explained we stay in our bed until Mommy or Daddy are in her room.  If she needs us she needs to yell for us not come downstairs on her own.

We still have some work to do decorating the walls to make it look like a toddler room and not a baby's room.. but seems to be a hit.

Tumbling Tots

So back in December we joined the Y and there weren't a lot of classes available at the time for Sophie's age group.  Just recently we took her swimming and got a new listing of the classes...and Tumbling for Tots 1-3 yr olds was on it.  We discussed and asked her if she'd like to join...she said yes so we jumped on the opportunity. So we signed her up every Monday night for 8 weeks.

Monday night she got into her little sweat shorts and shirt and off we went.

I learned that our daughter has pretty good listening skills for a 2 year old.  She was one of three kids in the class that followed directions and stayed on task for the most part until she got a little bored.  She was able to do almost everything the teacher had them doing.

She had so much fun she did not want to leave.

News Flash....Sophie is a Big Girl

This week is a big week in the Herbert Household.  Two milestones are being hit....the last two pieces of Sophie being a baby are disappearing.

She is officially potty trained and hasn't had any accidents in three weeks.  This week we are wearing the big girl underpants.  This makes me extremely happy.

Tomorrow she is officially a big girl and will no longer be sleeping in a crib.  Her big girl bed is being delivered and she will start sleeping in it.   As for the crib...She seems to be really excited about her big girl bed and I truthfully am excited for it too..just a little sad...the crib is coming down that we put up three years ago...where has time gone...my little girl is growing up way too quick.

The Bunny Hop

This past weekend it felt like we did the bunny hop from house to house to celebrate Easter...the only family we didn't see was Aunt Lisa and Uncle Michael.

Saturday we started off with the Easter egg hunt at Mamaw and Papaw's church.  There were lots of crafts and then you hunted for Eggs.  They had this really cool skit afterwards that if you found a white egg you got to be a part of which Sophie did.  Each egg has a symbol in it that helped tell the story of Easter.  Really cool.

After the hunt we headed out for lunch and then back to the house where Sophie found her little table and chairs for the porch that Mamaw and Papaw got her.  She also found a few other goodies.  Her favorite seems to be the sandbox and the little mermaid bathtub toys.   She played outside for over five hours with all of us.  We got her a trike for Easter and a helmet.  She loved it and immediately wanted to hop on..unfortunately her legs are just a smidge to short...so we are working on fixing that.

We also spent about 30 minutes dying easter eggs which seemed to be quite the hit and left both of us with stained fingers and hands :)

Saturday night she danced with all of us to Lawerence Welk and was about as hyper as could get since she had a dish of ice cream for dessert....she crashed hard when she went to bed but was awake off and on all night and Mommy spent the night sleeping with her.

Sunday morning the Easter bunny had come and she got lots of goodies from him.  She really likes her soccer ball and her Princess Rapunzel doll and matching dress.   We hurried to get ready for church and pack up the car so right after church we could dart down to Aunt Becky and Uncle Eric's to spend the day.

This Sunday was rare because she actually sat through a whole church service and played with her new stickers and little mermaid figurines.

We departed from church and headed South.   When we got there the boys were excited to show us their new little trampoline the Easter Bunny had brought them.  Then we had some lunch and exchanged gifts between the kids.   Sophie got a little toaster, her first necklace, and a dancing bunny from Grammy and Poppy.  She also got a cute Owl lunch box, some new crayons, a few books, and a cool crayon holder from Aunt Becky, Uncle Eric and the boys.

The guys took the kids to the basement while Becky and I hid 42 easter eggs across the backyard.  The kids made a mad dash to find the eggs and came up with all 42..Sophie stopped at 9 and decided to play in the sandbox and slide.  The boys found the rest...they had a blast playing outside the rest of the afternoon and then about 3:00 I found myself rocking a two year old to sleep because she had just exhausted herself with all the fun she'd had over 48 hours.

The weekend was a success..beautiful weather...lots of chocolate...lots of sunshine...and a great time spent with both sides of the family.  We are truly blessed!

Just the Girls

Yesterday Sophie had a playdate with a friend from church Carolyn.   They came over and stayed for two hours it was wonderful and the girls had a blast.   They played in the sandbox, drew with chalk and enjoyed swinging together and sliding on the swing set in the backyard.

Sophie did a wonderful job sharing her toys and asking Carolyn to play with her.   At the end they had so much fun they both seemed sad as the hugged goodbye.

It is so nice to have a little friend from church who lives less than five mins away.

A Day at the Park

On Sunday we took a ride down to a new little park we discovered here in town.  Very nice just a little older and we spent almost two hours sliding, swinging, and running.  It was a beautiful spring day that the three of us got to enjoy together.
