Trick Or Treat

This year Grandma made Sophie a Curious George costume and Bob and I created costumes to go along with the Curious George theme.  He went as the Man in the Yellow Hat and I went as Professor Wiseman. We had a blast walking our little neighborhood.  Sophie did great saying "treat" when she went up to the doors and "thank you".

By the time we had walked about 3/4 of the neighborhood she was exhausted and her bucket was so heavy she was nearly falling over.   Some people are overly generous with little kids.  She was also pretty tired so we had to carry her.

We have enough candy for three months and that's if we help her eat it.   When we got home we handed out a little more candy which she thought was fun and she sat on the front stoop with her pumpkin and inspected her candy.  Her favorites are kit kats and twizzlers.

TWO CUTE

So we officially have a two year old in our house who is into everything and loves to explore and see how things work.

Currently her absolute favorite person has to be Daddy.  She follows him everywhere including the bathroom from the time he gets home until the time she goes to bed.  I think he enjoys it, but has trouble getting anything done when she isn't asleep.  She is definitely a Daddy's girl unless she is hurt or sick and then she wants Mommy.

She recently has started pointing on everyone's facial features and telling us what they are...Nose, Eyes, Mouth, Ears, Teeth, Chin, Tongue..

At this age she loves to stack anything...books, blocks, puzzles.   She also loves to be read to several times a day and we are more than happy to accomodate her in that department since she loves to sit on our lap while doing so.  We are learning how to spell our name and how to recognize those letters, she knows her colors as far as green and yellow go.  We love to put puzzles together...sometimes this lasts a good hour.  Playdough and floam are also a favorite.

She has started counting pretty regularly the items that she is playing with.  She loves to sing songs by herself or along with us.  Her favorites include, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, The Wheels on the Bus, Itsy Bitsy Spider, ABC Song, Johnny Appleseed Song, and Many Laurie Berkner Band songs on the CD in the car.  Also in the car she has taken a liking to coloring in a tiny little notepad that Grandma gave her.  So far she just doodles in it and doesn't color on anything else.

We are now in the pretend stage. She loves cooking and serving up food and drinks from her kitchen, she loves feeding and rocking her baby dolls along with covering them up and giving them hugs and kisses.  At church in the nursery she enjoys playing doctor with the other kids.

She is really coordinated when it comes to running and kicking a soccer ball which she loves to do out in the yard and down in the basement.  She loves dancing and playing tent under a blanket.

More recently she has started forming more sentences like No we're not, ome here (Come Here), Look here, sit here please, more milk please.

As far as food goes her favorites at this age seem to be yogurt, apples, chicken nuggets, peanut butter, grapes and mac n cheese.  She eats a lot of other things like meatballs, spaghetti, cucumber, carrots, peas,  blueberries, strawberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, hot dogs, grilled cheese, rice, corn, waffles, toast, applesauce, oranges, peaches, pancakes, cereal, pretzels, pears, green beans, edamame, french toast sticks and fish sticks.

She really is not a fan of any kind of potatoes, eggs, roast beef or salmon.  Which we've tried numerous times.

Her favorite movie at the moment is The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, along with still enjoying Curious George, Clifford, and The Imagination Movers.

She really loves playing with her friends Charlize, Julie, and Hannah at Suzanne's.

At her two year old dr. visit yesterday she is weighing in at 28.6 pounds and is 34.25 inches tall so they say she is evenly proportioned :)

Two Years Ago Today

Dear Sophie,

Today two years ago at 12:46 pm you graced us with your sweet little face and your tiny little cry.  Besides our wedding day it was the happiest day of our lives.

Over the last two years we watched you grow into a little girl, no longer a baby and to be honest it is exciting yet a little sad at the same time.  With every new stage there have been challenges but more and more fun.

We love your smile, your laugh, your little voice and they way you are so loving and caring about others already at a young age.

We are blessed every day with you in our lives.

Love Mommy and Daddy
XOXOXO

Halloween Party

Suzanne(our sitter) Her Dad, and Her Sisters
Saturday Night we headed to our sitter Suzanne's house for the annual Legg Halloween party.  Along with one of Sophie's little friends Julie's third birthday party at their house.
Our Little Curious George

We as a family dressed up as Curious George, The man in the Yellow Hat, and Professor Wiseman.  All the kids and most of the parents and the sitter dressed up too.

The kids enjoyed the pizza and cake from the Minnie and Mickey themed birthday party, along with the bounce house.

Sophie and Hannah

Before the evening barely began Sophie took a nose dive off the bounce house slide and scraped up her nose, bit her lip, and bumped her forehead.  To say the least she scared me and her Daddy half to death.  She cried but recovered well with some ice and aquafor.

The Monkey and The Duck

Saturday morning we decided to meet up with our good friends from work and their daughter Teagan for the Boo at the Zoo.  So we dressed Sophie up in her Curious George costume that Grandma made her and headed out in our little red wagon.

The girls trick or treated or should I say Meghan and I trick or treated with their buckets throughout the zoo while they sat in Sophie's wagon and shared their fishys.   We also checked out the animals along the way and both seem to enjoy anything that swims and the monkeys.

Would you like a fishy?  Sophie is sharing

Checking out the Polar Bears and sharing some quackers!

Horsing Around

Sunday since the weather ended up being super nice we headed out to Max and Erma's and then to the zoo with Aunt Becky, Uncle Eric, Austin and Aaron.  Another perfect fall afternoon to enjoy and bask in the sun and warmth while it lasts.

On this outing to the zoo we did a lot of playing on the playground.

We enjoyed watching the polar bears play with their ball and dive into the water and swim.  It was great because the zoo was not packed at all and you could actually see a lot of the animals without having to stand in line.

We also did a few things at the zoo that Sophie has not done before, nor had the boys.  We took a train ride around the zoo which all three kids enjoyed.

We went into the petting zoo which was short lived, since there are only so many goats you can pet

Lastly Sophie rode her first real pony Snickers and loved it!!

After the zoo we headed to Jeni's to get some yummy ice cream.

You are the Apple of our Eye

On Saturday we decided to spend our sweetest day by picking some sweet apples at Lynd's Apple Orchard.  It was overall a nice sunny fall day...a tad bit windy to say the least.  It took us about 45 minutes to drive there. We went to look at pumpkins first and check out the market area

After we were done with that part of it in order to pick apples we had to get back in the car and drive to the picking part of the Orchard... of course as usual Sophie decided to fall asleep right as we pulled into the drive.  So we decided to sit in the car with the window down and listen to the leaves blowing on the trees and the silence which you rarely hear close to civilization and let her finish her nap.

Fourty-five minutes later Sophie had awakened from her slumber and was ready to pick apples.  So we headed out to the orchard.

We filled a 10 pound bag with approx. 25 apples...and the one which Sophie pulled off the tree and we let her eat.

It was fun, and she enjoyed her apple, and there are many more where that one came from.

Here Daddy have a bite!

And Another...

Here is Sophie enjoying her second apple while sitting on the crates..

I think we will make this a Herbert family Fall tradition along with Leeds Farm.

Leeds Farm Take 2

Last Sunday Daddy's Family came to our house to celebrate his birthday and go to Leeds Farm for the 2nd time this year.

This time we took the kids over to the large pumpkin to bounce.  Sophie wasn't quite old enough so she hung out towards the bottom.  Austin had no trouble climbing the top and Aaron just needed a boost and he was able to bounce as well.

Then we went to the barn with the cornbox(just like a sandbox with corn instead of sand)
I think Aaron and Sophie liked this the best...in fact we had a heck of a time getting her out of there.

After playing in the corn we headed over to another big barn that had some awesome slides in it.  The catch was you had to climb about 12 bales of straw to get to the top.  The boys did great with it.  Sophie needed a bit of help which involved me climbing up with her and the climbing down to get her and help her back up.

Then we headed outside and did some more sliding.

Then Uncle Eric and the boys rode the tractors.

And did the mini zip line...

Then we took a wagon ride through the woods...

When we returned we picked out some pumpkins, and got some kettle corn.

Just hanging out on the wagon with Daddy.

I had so much fun with you today Aaron :)
