Waking Up is Hard to Do..

They say that waking up is hard to do..
Now I know I know that it's true..
Please say that I don't have to nap again
Instead of taking a nap I wish that I was playing with "AT" again

"Hey mommy come get me I'm awake.."

"I'm still sleepy so I'm going to pout"

"and cry..big crocodile tears"

"Waking up is just so hard to do"

"Now that I've got that out of my system, I want down to play with my toys"

Summer Sweetness!!

This past weekend, Grandpa and Grandma were nice enough to watch Sophie for us Saturday so Mommy and Daddy could go out for their 4th anniversary.  Grandpa even skipped mowing just so he could spend the day with his little Sophie.
They even dumped the toy bucket out and put her in it and pulled her around in it..I have a feeling you can get away with just about anything Sophie.

Then on Sunday after church it was pretty warm so we decided it was a good time to try her out in her little pool.

This is her anxiously waiting for  Daddy and Grandma to blow up her pool.

Once we finally got the pool blown up and dumped several pitchers of warmer water in the pool, she was definitely excited to try it out..lots of smiles.

We each took a turn splashing around in her little pool with her.

After awhile she discovered the grass and decided it was a lot of fun to pull it and put it in the pool.

Overall swimming was definitely a hit and she looked super cute in her swimsuit that daddy picked out for her.

Fun in a Laundry Basket

So anyone that has ever had kids or has been around kids probably knows that it is super hard to get anything done when the child is awake.  So you have to get really creative, but think of safety at the same time...

Trivia for the day...

What do you do with an eight month old who is crawling and into everything while you fold and put away laundry?

Answer is put her in the laundry basket, give her some toys and well it's as easy as that...until she starts to walk, then it's back to the drawing board for more creative ideas.

Grandma Turns 60

Over a week ago Grandma B turned 60 to celebrate the big occasion Michael and Lisa came home and we as a family took her on a mini vacation to Indianapolis.  We stayed at a Bed and Breakfast for two nights, which was wonderful.

Thursday we had a picnic in the park, we visited the NCAA

We all shot hoops and Sophie enjoyed playing with a basketball her size
and watching Uncle Michael bounce the ball, so daddy bought her, her very own ball and Grandpa got her a bear that is orange and black that we named Indy.

To conclude the first day we ate dinner at the Rathskeller
which is a German Restaurant..lots of food...lots of sausage.  Only Michael and Bob decided to have this for dinner.

Friday we went to the Zoo and Botanical Gardens..lots of neat things to see I think one of the big highlights was the Dolphin Show.  All of us including Sophie really watched them jump to get balls and splash in and out of the water.

Sophie did well riding in her stroller, but couldn't see a whole lot so we each took a turn carrying her.

Uncle Michael  and Sophie with matching hats.. gotta shade those baby cheeks and bald head.

Mommy points out the giraffes for Sophie to see and she claps for them

Aunt Lisa helps Sophie feed the goats.

Sophie enjoys her first carousel ride with mommy and daddy .

Daddy and Sophie admire the baby elephant who was looking for water on that hot day

After spending the entire day in the 90 degree heat we called it a day, but after a nap, Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Michael and Aunt Lisa went to dinner at the Weber Grill and then to see the Jersey Boys in Concert.  The three of us played in our room back at the Bed and Breakfast, watched a movie and ate leftovers from the night before.

Saturday we headed back to Ohio, we all had a really great time and look forward to another vacation next May :)

Baptism on Father's Day

Yesterday was Bob's first Father's Day Sunday June 20, 2010.  We started the day with Bob and I , along with Sophie's Godparents (Aunt Becky, Uncle Eric, Uncle Michael, and Aunt Lisa) standing before God, our congregation, and our families presenting our little Sophie Kay for baptism.   Pastor Carl Fischer performed the service and surprisingly Sophie did not mind having water poured over her head.   Following the service we had a reception back at our house for family to celebrate her baptism along with Father's Day, and Grandma B and Aunt Becky's birthday.

7 Months Old

Must admit I am a little behind getting these pictures posted.  Here are Sophie's seven month photos.  She is now almost eight months and I'll be posting those pictures in just a few weeks.  During the past month she has hit several milestone.  She has learned to army crawl at a rather fast pace to go where she wants to go.  Her favorite place to crawl is towards the vent in our family room near the sliding door with blinds on it because the air blows the blinds and her hair when she puts her face over it.  Secondly, she has learned how to drink water out of her very own sippy cup, and daddy's big water bottle with a straw.

Lastly just this last week she got her first tooth the bottom front right tooth.  She was a bit fussy but overall has handled it just like a champ.  She is definitely developing her own little personality, she curls up her nose and almost snorts in excitement whenever she thinks something is funny, loves chewing on tags on her clothes, blankets, and stuffed animals. She loves all music but some of her favorites are  "If your happy and you know it", "Baby you can drive my car"- Beatles, and "twinkle, twinkle little star."  She is just so much fun and such a sweet little girl with a laid back personality.

Attention for Sophie

After a long weekend of Grandma and Grandpa helping us get our house ready to sell by watching Sophie and doing a few other odds and ends we had some dinner and then they headed home probably more tired than Bob and I.  Thanks Mom and Dad!!

After they left we spent some good quality time with Sophie playing and reading her books.

Now that she is seven months old she is sitting up without any help, eating all kinds fruits and veggies in the baby food department minus garden veggies and squash, has started drinking water out of a sippy cup, and we've noticed a white spot on her gums..here comes a tooth.
Lots of fun new exciting things that she is learning, it has been fun and we look forward to her learning and growing each day.

Just Monkeying Around

Here is the newest addition to our family. Meet "AT."  When we were in Boone NC about a week ago Sophie spotted this sock monkey at the Mast General Store.  She smiled and had a quick little chat with him and we knew that he should be her souvenir.  So we brought him home with us and while on the trip Sophie started saying "at" so Daddy decided that his name should be "AT."  She has had such a great time with him, playing with him and chewing on him.  Priceless.  Welcome to our family "AT."

Visiting the Beerys in Boone

Over the holiday weekend we packed up everything but the kitchen sink and headed to Boone for a nice long weekend full of fun site seeing and visiting with my brother and sister-in-law which we hadn't seen in almost six months.

We started out Thursday morning around 7 am with hopes that Sophie would do well in the car.  She did but we hadn't even left Ohio when Daddy managed to get pulled over by a state trooper and was given a rather large ticket...to give him the benefit of doubt he really thought the speed limit was 65 and it was 55 and he was only going 68.  We shook that off and the next six hours went smoothly. When we arrived on Thursday Michael greeted us, soon followed by Lisa.

They took us up to see Howard's Knob and out to dinner at the Dan'l Boone Restaurant.  It was a lot of food, but delicious.

Friday we had no idea that the weather was going to turn out as nice as it did.  Rain was expected the entire time but sunshine prevailed and we were able to hike pushing the jogging stroller on the carriage trail up to the fire tower.

Sophie enjoyed the bumpy trail and took a nap for part of the way while the rest of us enjoyed the sunshine and fresh mountain air.

Later we also stopped along the parkway to take some pictures and since our camera was so complex the guy thought he had taken the picture and didn't so we started to clear out and then ended up getting back together to get the better of the two pictures.  We also went to the Mast General store where Sophie got her sock monkey and then we finished up the evening back at their house with Pizza and the movie Avatar.

Saturday morning Aunt Lisa read her some books and they played..and Uncle Michael and her watched ESPN together and played (note the basketball and soccer ball).

Later that morning we hiked the greenway where Michael and Lisa get their jogging in several times a week, we also walked around and did some shopping downtown Boone, downtown Blowing Rock, and at the outlet mall as well.

Sunday we went to one of the Lutheran churches the two of them rotate at and heard Michael preach..he did a great job..and then we headed back to Ohio.

Sophie did a fabulous in the car and in her stroller and she slept all three nights.  She along with us had a wonderful time.   Good first vacation!!
