I love Scarlet and Gray

Sophie had so much fun with Scarlet and Gray when we were in Minnesota.

She helped feed them, helped get them in and out of their cage, gave them treats and just enjoyed playing with them.

One night she used her medical skills and played doctor with the girls.  Scarlet just sat there and let Sophie do her thing including putting a bandaid on her tail.   Gray on the other hand looked at me like seriously what is she doing to me.

All three of them chased bubbles while Aunt Lisa used this cool wand to make bigger bubbles.

Sophie enjoyed just sitting with them and petting them.  She also enjoyed sharing some of her dinner with them and they did not seem to mind the few extra crumbs that were dropped.

And of Course we had to get some pictures of all three of them...

Way Up North

Over Memorial Day weekend we headed way North to see my brother and sister-in-law in Minnesota.  So Thursday morning we boarded the plane not knowing what to expect from Sophie, but she did great.  She looked out the window, watched her dvd player, we did stickers and colored and all was peachy keen until the turbulence started on our second leg of the trip.  It did not bother Sophie a bit but Mommy and Daddy felt a little queasy.

We landed in Grand Forks ND shortly after noon their time and were greeted by Aunt Lisa.  Sophie played shy for a short time and then she warmed right up to her.

We spent two hours driving to their house after the flight and taking in the sites of all the trees in straight rows across the fields.

Once we got to their house Scarlet and Gray went crazy.  They were so excited to see us and to see that they have a playmate for the week.   They smothered Sophie in kisses and wags.  She loved it.

Sophie was excited to have her own room and some fun stuffed animals that were Uncle Michael and Aunt Lisa's when they were little.

About three hours later Uncle Michael came home from work and Sophie played shy again but then warmed up pretty quickly.

We spent the evening relaxing and had a nice dinner of pork chops, mac n cheese and green beans.

Zoo..

We're going to the zoo zoo zoo...
How bout you you you...
You can come too too too...
We're going to the zoo.

Last Sunday after church we headed out to the zoo.  It was a beautiful very warm sunny day outside so we thought it would be fun.

This summer is going to be even more fun because Sophie really is recognizing her animals and very interested in everything she can see.

This is the new baby elephant Hank...she was very entertained by him and his bathing and swimming in his little pool of water...of course after that he decided to take a "poopy" in Sophie's words in his pool.  I later had to explain to her that he's not potty trained yet and still has accidents because he's just a baby elephant.

We also saw the penguins which she liked quite a bit.

We checked out the aquarium area and she watched all the different colored fish for awhile.  She kept pointing out the blue ones and saying "look it's Nemo"

She also really wanted to see the Lions this time for some reason....she understood the difference between the mommy lions and the daddy lions...one has a big furry mane the other doesn't...

Overnight at Grandma and Papaw's

This past weekend we took Sophie to Grandma and Grandpa Beery's for her first overnight away from home without Mommy and Daddy.

To be honest I was a little nervous about how she would do at night...I knew she'd be great during the day.   However, she did great.

She had a blast playing outside on her swing set, playing in her sandbox, blowing bubbles, riding her trike we took over for her, watching movies, staying up a little later, and eating ice cream :)

When she came home she was exhausted and I think Grandma and Grandpa were too, but you could tell all three of them had a blast.

Mommy and Daddy enjoyed a nice quiet evening out to dinner and shopping just the two of us.  We slept in and enjoyed the day Saturday getting a few things done around the house.  We missed her but were glad for the break and are so happy she gets this time with her grandparents.

Mother's Day

Earlier in the week I got a surprise delivery of flowers and a small food processor which I must say is totally awesome for making salsa and my other dips.

Sunday morning Daddy and Sophie gave me the pleasure of sleeping in and Daddy made me some breakfast.

After breakfast I opened up some guacamole dip mix, some mint chocolate chip ice cream mix, and a gift card to the crocs store.    All very awesome.  But the best gift of all was when Sophie said "Happy Mutter's Day...I luv you Mommy."  Nothing can top that i'm pretty sure.

So we got ready and went to church, after church we picked up some City BBQ and took it home to meet my parents for lunch.

We exchanged gifts and Sophie enjoyed the afternoon playing with Mamaw and Papaw.

Mother's Day with the Herberts

Saturday we met Grammy and Poppy, Aunt Becky, Uncle Eric and the boys at Easton to celebrate Mother's Day.   We headed to the lego store where the kids built their look alike lego people.  We built one that looked like Uncle Bob and Aunt Stephanie too.

Then the guys took the kids to see a movie so the girls could get a little shopping in.   It was Sophie's first trip to the movie theatre.  Daddy said she did great and enjoyed her chocolate milkshake he got her for snack.

After the movie we met back up with them and went to Max and Erma's for an early dinner.  Then we exchanged mother's day gifts in the top of the parking garage.

Happy Mother's Day

Last Friday night the three of us went to the bare bowl here in town and Sophie painted some pottery for Grandma and Grammy.  She did a fabulous job on both pieces.  We hope you both enjoy them.

Thank you to both my mother and my mother in law for all the wonderful things you have done and do for us.  We are blessed to have you in our lives and in Sophie's life.  We also want to wish a Happy Mother's Day to Sophie's Aunt Becky and Aunt Lisa you both are wonderful women and role models in our daughter's life as well.
