Whose Been Sleeping in Mommy and Daddy's Bed

So Thursday Morning Miss Sophielocks decided that 4 oclock was a good time for her bottle.  So Bob got her a bottle and passed her off to me so he could head to the basement for a morning workout.  When she was finished she was very awake, smiling, and ready to go for the day.. I laid her on our bed to go get her clothes so I could get her dressed and when I return I found Little Miss Sophielocks sound asleep in our bed bib and all. So of course I let her sleep... you never wake a sleeping baby.  I went ahead and got ready for the day and Bob returned upstairs and got ready as well.  We laughed silently at little Sophie :)

Sleeping like a Baby..

Hopefully I don't jinx us by saying Sophie has been sleeping through the night for over a week now.  However, she's not a big napper...she just does not wanna miss anything during the day. Today is no exception.  She got up at 6 am had her bottle and then I got her dressed...Bob took her to the sitter's at 8am and she was awake all morning refusing her nap and wanting to watch the other kids play.  I picked her up around noon and decided I had better go to the grocery store on the way home.. I must say for not having a morning nap she was in a very good mood..looked at all the different colors on the shelves and the bright lights above us and jibber jabbered all through the store.  When we got home she had a bit of a melt down.  Here I was trying to put the groceries away with her screaming from the roof tops.  Luckily after singing "If your happy and you know it " (this is her all time favorite song for mommy to sing at the moment) for about six rounds she calmed down long enough for me to get the stuff into the freezer and get a bottle warmed up and her diaper changed.   Then we played and I ate my lunch picnic style on the floor with her. I then read her a couple of books and with all intentions of probably rocking her to sleep I went to the bathroom and returned to find her sound asleep.

Nothing Like Snuggling with Mommy

Recently Sophie has developed I can't take a nap syndrome unless being held by Mommy.  She begins to get a bit fussy after getting home from work and the sitter, so we do the standard diaper change and I give her a bottle.  She used to fall asleep no problem and I could put her down or put her in her swing for an hour or so...but over the last week not the case.  I end up rocking her for nearly twenty minutes to calm her from her not wanting to shut her eyes and give up to then holding her for an hour or two just so she gets a nap and isn't cranky when daddy gets home.  Secretly I don't mind..she'll only be this little for so long and I love just holding her watching her sleep...someday I'll have to beg her to snuggle with me like this.

Honestly..who can resist her and her little bear.  The laundry, dishes, and other housework can wait !

I'm a Big Girl Now..

So this weekend when the lovely weather hit and we were snowed in and did not venture to Grandma and Grandpa's as planned. We spent the weekend being lazy and playing with our favorite girl.  Recently Sophie has been in wiggle mode..aka does not want to sit still very long at all.  All indications showed that she can hold her neck up well enough and likes sitting up on our laps..so we gave the Bumbo a go... here are some facial expressions we were able to capture.

"What am I doing in here?"
"Not quite sure what this thing is and why my toys are on it..
but hmm..I do like sitting up.."

"This is blast...I can sit up on my own..
Look Mommy and Daddy who's the big girl now!!"

Just the Three of Us

Sunday afternoon after a big weekend of Bob's parents coming down to watch Sophie so we could have a"date night" and staying up late to play cards with our sitter, her husband, and all the other kids parents we decided to spend some good quality family time just the three of us.

A Little Time with Daddy...

Our little Sophie definitely has a love for her daddy and without a doubt has had him wrapped around his little finger before she was even born.  When he comes home from work at night we all spend time together  reading her books and seeing who can get her to smile and talk. I personally think recently he has gotten her to give the biggest grins we've seen yet. She has also started using different voice tones..when she really wants us to listen to her she uses her loud coos, and when we talk softly to her..she in return coos softly..We've found ourselves laughing it's like she knows which one to use. Not to mention sometimes she's cooed off and on for nearly five minutes, it's like she is having a full fledge conversation with him..he'd better be careful..someday between her and I, he will not be getting a word in edge wise, she is becoming quite the "talker."

Off to Work I went...

We all survived me going back to work today.  Luckily it is only part time and I have my afternoons with my sweet little girl.  Our morning started off at 5 am, and I did make it out the door in order to get to work in time....I must say it was tough, there were only a few tears from Mommy, but once I was back at work those few hours went by quick and when I picked her up at the sitter's she told me all she did was have a bottle, sleep, poop, and watch the other kids play.  She definitely was super happy to see me when I arrived, it was like she had saved up all of her big smiles and coos to make me feel good.  I love this kid!!

A-Moo-sed

This morning Sophie spotted her stuffed cow "Moo" in her room. While I showered and cleaned the upstairs, she spent nearly an hour on our bed being amused by him I thought what better than to capture it than on camera.  After an hour Moo had received a bath of slobbery kisses from Sophie...she sure does love her "Moo."

Roll Over..Roll Over..Sophie Rolls Over

Sunday morning Bob just happened to be video taping her holding her head up while I was playing with her, and all of a sudden she just decided it was time for her to roll over..we thought it just happened on accident but when she did it a second time shortly afterwards we knew our little girl had hit another milestone :)

Two Months Old...and Growing

Hard to believe Sophie is now 10 weeks old.  She is getting so big, holding her head up while lying on her tummy and giving us some big grins and some of her cooing is even starting to turn into almost a laugh..it gets us laughing pretty hard.  She has also discovered her hands and now enjoys sucking on her thumb.. At her two month visit she weighed 10 pounds 3 ounces and is now 22 inches long.. she also got three shots which both her and I disliked a lot.

Sophie's First Christmas

Christmas morning started rather early for us....5am, however Sophie slept the entire night for the first time ever..she must have thought Santa wouldn't come if she didn't.  She received her first tea set, picnic basket, and purse from Santa.

About 10 am we packed up and headed out to Aunt Becky and Uncle Eric's house to celebrate Christmas with Bob's family.

Sophie's First Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve morning was just the three of us... we hung out playing, cooing, and smiling in the shirt her Uncle Michael and Lisa gave her that says best present ever..
Later in the afternoon was spent with Grandma and Grandpa at our house.  Sophie was full of smiles and was cooing up a storm.  We then went to our Christmas Eve Service at church where Sophie slept and then we returned home for dinner and headed to bed around 10 so Santa Claus could come.

Big Smiles for Grandpa

Over the last two weeks we have seen many smiles from our little Sophie...let me tell you when your child smiles at you and others it is just priceless...Grandpa was just thrilled that she was giving him the big grins..little does he know she thinks he's quite the comedian..funny how's she's got him figured out already :)

Sophie Snuggles with Ella-phant

Over the past few days Sophie has discovered her stuffed elephant...she really loves to coo and smile at her...we think it is because she has eyes...so Daddy thought she needed a name.. Ella-Phant.  She loves her Ella-Phant so much that she held onto her while she took her afternoon nap.
